Almonds: Spain set to break ten-year record

MADRID. Frosty weather in Spain in February and March has above all affected early blooming varieties such as Largueta and Marcona. The Mesa Nacional de Frutos Secos has now published its crop estimates for 2018.

 

Production increase of 32% expected
Not only Californian farmers have a chance of setting new records in 2018/19. The Mesa Nacional de Frutos Secos published their estimates for the Spanish almond crop on Thursday. At almost 60,400 mt, the crop is set to outperform last year by approx. 13%. This estimate not only outperforms the 5-year average by 32%, it would also be the best Spanish almond crop of the last ten years.
