Almonds: This is what Spain purchases from the competition

MADRID. California export figures are showing some interesting developments concerning deliveries to Spain, while almond prices are calm this week.

 

January imports increase by 9%

According to the Almond Board of California, Spanish importers have purchased 44,520 mt of almonds from the US since the start of the season, nearly 4% more than last year (42,909 mt). January alone saw an increase of 9% compared to the same time last year (2017: 7,823 mt vs. 2018: 8,522 mt). The importation of almonds in shells has halved to 378 mt in the first four months of this season.

The 2017 Spanish almond crop is expected to reach a volume of around 53,500 mt - one of the better results in recent years. O
