Almonds: revised production estimates in Spain

MADRID/SACRAMENTO. Agricultural media report that production is to fall short of expectations. This news has impacted the price devleopment in Spain. Market players in the US meanwhile emphasise that there is no need for concern.

Export prices have risen

The Ministry of Agriculture in Spain has recently revised the estimates for in-shell prodcution downwards to 312,093 metric tonnes. This represents a decline of 1.4% over last year. On the spot markets the prices consequently remained stable or declined. Contrary to this, the prices for only organic almonds rose to EUR 8.00 per kg in Albacete. Traders in Spain increased their export prices by EUR 0.10 per kg DDP Germany.
