Almonds: prospects are highly encouraging

MADRID/SACRAMENTO. Almond prices have shifted in Spain. Although the snowpack only ranged at 72% in the US by the end of January, Blue Diamond Almonds reports that fog has partly compensated for the lack of water prompted by a winter marked by low percipitation.

Lack of impulse in Spain

Conventional almonds are mainly trading lower in Albacate, Murcia and in Reus. Contrary to this, limited supplies have further driven up the prices for organic almonds. Organic Valencia almonds are currently trading in a range of EUR 8.80-8.85 per kg in Murcia and in Albacete. The export prices for Valencia almonds have declined by EUR 0.20 per kg over the last four weeks. Valencia almonds, 12/14 mm are now trading at EUR 6.10 per kg EXW Spain.
