MADRID. In the Spanish region of Aragon, the Unión Agroganadera de Álava (UAGA) expects production increases for the 2018 almond crop; the countrywide prognoses paint a different picture.

19,850 mt expected in Aragon
With differences between the cultivation regions, the Spanish almond production is expected to yield around 60–125 kg/ha; in the northeastern district of Aragon, the Unión Agroganadera de Álava (UAGA) expects excellent yields of 288 kg/ha. In this region, the almond crop 2018/19 is expected to amount to 19,850 mt, which is an increase of 26% compared to previous year (15,740 mt); however, the UAGA does not publish any estimates for the countrywide 2018 almond crop – which leaves plenty of room for speculation.
