Almonds: Problematic harvest

MADRID. Not long before the arrival of the new crop the price trend in the Spanish almond market is mixed. Hail and rain showers could negatively impact the crop in some places.

 

Possible crop losses
The harvest is in full swing, but in some regions, the trees are still being weighed down by their nuts. Here the rain of the last few days has led to problems. Although the trees are in desperate need of water after the dry summer, the heavy winds, rain and hailstorms have shaken lots of almonds to the ground before the harvest started.
