Almonds: Prices increase by up to 0.60 EUR/kg

SACRAMENTO. At 1.07 million acres, the cultivation area prognosis for Californian almonds fell short of the expectations for the coming season, which in turn affected both crop predictions and market prices.

Demand drives up prices
Subjective estimates of the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) amount to 1.043 million mt, only slightly more than the 1.024 million mt of the 2017 harvest. Market participants are hoping for crop prognosis corrections with the upcoming objective estimates of 05 July, expecting at least 1.088 million mt, which would still hardly suffice to meet growing demand.
