Almonds: Price speculations in Spain

MADRID/SACRAMENTO. While market players in Spain are increasingly focusing on the new crop and the business for the Christmas season, the punitive tariffs on US almonds in China remain the dominant issue in the US.

 

New Valencia crop causes price declines in Spain

According to media reports, market prices in Spain are in free fall. They claim that, in the cultivation region of Murcia, prices for all almond varieties have fallen by 0.05-0.10 EUR/kg since the start of the season. In addition, there is price pressure from the USA, as US almonds are trading at lower prices due to the record crop and the punitive tariffs imposed by China and Turkey.
