Almonds: price continues to rise

MADRID/SACRAMENTO. It will be several more months before the new US almond crop becomes available on the European market. Due to the limited stock reserves, purchasers must expect rising prices.

190,500 ha of almond trees in Andalusia
Spanish almond traders have increased their prices for the Valencia and Ramillete varieties over the last week. Prices for Largueta and Marcona almonds remained at the same level as the previous week. However, almond prices at the local raw nut markets remained stable or fell.

A recent study confirmed that Andalusia continues to be Spain’s most important almond-growing region. In 2016, almonds were being grown on 190,469 hectares in Andalusia, the highest value to date. Around 70% of the trees are full-grown and bea
