MADRID/SACRAMENTO. According to the Spanish media, almond plantations in the Autonomous Region of Castilla-La Mancha suffered severe frost damage. This is also reflected in the prices.

Losses are inevitable
The cultivation areas in the provinces of Albacete, Cuenca and Toledo are severely affected. According to the first estimates of the local farmers' association, 80-100% of the harvest in some regions fell victim to frost. A significant decline in yields compared to the previous year is therefore to be expected.

For this reason, many traders are reluctant to make offers for prompt deliveries and prefer to hold back their stocks. Price indications have been raised by 10-20 cents/kg compared to last week.
