Icy temperatures in Murcia
Besides the ongoing threat posed by almond leaf scorch disease in Alicante, this year’s Spanish almond production is also at risk of frost damages. The UPA Murcia (Murcia Association of Small Farmers and Stock Breeders) reports that temperatures dropped to as low as -6°C during the winter nights. The regional almond trees are not only already blossoming, some trees already had their fruit set. The damage is still being evaluated. Prices for Spanish almonds are on the rise since last week, with increases of 0.15–0.30 EUR/kg.&nb
