MADRID/SACRAMENTO. The almond suppliers in Spain are running out of breath. Product lists are getting shorter and shorter, and prices continue to rise.

 

Rapid price increase

The surge in demand has prompted traders in Spain to raise their prices sharply again this week. Depending on variety, Spanish almonds are around 0.30-0.60 EUR/kg more expensive than last week. Prices for Californian almonds have also risen at a similar rate. Although new shipments regularly arrive in the Spanish ports, the processing capacities of the suppliers are fully utilised.
