Almonds: US crop may hit the 3 billion lbs mark

MADRID/SACRAMENTO. Experts are banking on continued growth of the US almond production over the next five years. Spain expects to reach a 10-year high.

 

Higher prices for the current crop
Coinciding with the publication of the crop estimates for 2018, Spanish almond prices have risen in the regional markets. This has in turn inspired traders to adjust the prices for the current crop upwards. Prices have now stabilised.

Spanish almond farmers are set to harvest approx. 60,300 mt of almonds, which not only means a 13% increase over last year but would also be the best crop result of the last ten years. Market participants, however, point out that the full extent of the damages caused by frost in F
