MADRID/SACRAMENTO. The Almond prices demanded by many traders in Spain are still above last year's level. This situation is, however, set to change with the arrival of the new crop.

Valencias are already available
While new crop Valencia almonds are already being traded, other almond varieties will become available soon. Traders will be reluctant to make offers for the new crop until then.

The promising global production prospects continue to add pressure to the market. Although Spanish Valencia almonds are being offered at slightly higher prices than this time last year, there is a clear downward trend.
