Almonds: California is hoping for a bumper crop

SACRAMENTO. The shipments of US almonds to China have far exceeded expectations this season. However, it is unclear how things will look after the Chinese New Year.

 

Will China continue to buy?

The Almond Board of California has recently published its new position report. While shipments to the US market increased by 2% to 137,398 mt over last year, the export volume has declined by 5% to 319,561 mt. A total of 456,959 mt of US almonds have been shipped since the start of the season. 714,862 mt of Californian almonds have already been sold, representing 61% of this season’s supplies.
