SANTIAGO. Chile’s walnut exports are down. Yet, monthly shipments picked up for shelled walnuts in November and Europe is sporting some gains.

November gains for shelled walnuts

Shelled walnut exports picked up by 6% in November this year as compared with the same month last year. They climbed from 3,966 mt in November 2023 to 4,189 mt in November 2024 as the latest shipment report issued by ChileNut shows. Total exports have, however, declined by 9%. Although shipments to Europe have risen by 4%, this cannot compensate for the sharp downturns in all other regions. Spain is the leading export destination for Chile with shipments exceeding 5,000 mt. Germany is next in line with a 14% hike in shipments. Contrary to this, shipments to Italy have declined by 18%.
