KIEV/SOFIA. The Ukraine is already the world's largest producer of sunflower seeds. It is reported that farmers still strive to cultivate more this year.

 

Record or not?
A spokeswoman of the APK-Inform Agency announced that acreage in 2018/19 will amount to around 6.4 million hectares: A new record for oilseeds. According to the USDA, total acreage in the Ukraine has already amounted to 6.4 million hectares over the last two years, albeit with significant deviations in production (2016: 15.2 million mt vs. 2017: 13 million mt) due to lower yields in 2017.
