Sunflower seeds: Traders yearning for price rise

SOFIA. Market participants are hoping that prices for shelled sunflower seeds will increase, while current crop estimates guarantee sufficient availability in 2018/19.

 

Surplus despite smaller crop
Bulgarian export ports are bustling with loading operations, but despite this fact, there are still very few shipments of sunflower seeds and sunflower seed-related products to be observed. Wheat exports, however, are rising back to their previous levels.

After a short-lived drop, the farmgate prices for black in shells, 96% purity, have again reached the slightly higher level at which they were already trading more than a fortnight ago - 304 EUR/mt CPT Varna.
