Sunflower seeds: Traders adapt to new demand situation

SOFIA. Market players report that the enquiries from China for Eastern European sunflower seeds are slowly having an impact on the market.

 

Decisive factor: China

The prices for black in shells, 96% are at a 5-month high and stand at a level of 287 EUR/mt CPT Varna. Traders in Bulgaria have again raised the prices for bakery kernels. Buyers need to reckon with offers starting at 550 EUR/mt FCA.

While there are currently only a few enquiries from Europe, exporters are reporting increasing demand in other regions - including China. This is supporting the prices for hulled kernels in conjunction with the higher raw seed prices.
