Sunflower seeds: suppliers adjust prices

SOFIA/KIEV. In addition to the decline in production in Bulgaria, the dent in production in the Ukraine is also impacting prices in Eastern Europe. Market players in the Urkaine are, nevertheless, optimistic. Sales are reportedly going well in Bulgaria.

Production to decline by 1 million metric tonnes

Official production estimates currently range at 1.7 million metric tonnes, which is far below the initial prodcution estimates of 1.9-2.0 million metric tonnes. Sales are, however, going very well. According to the Ministry of Agriculture of Bulgaria, as much as 300,000 metric tonnes had already been processed and exported by mid-October. Stocks have thereby declined to 1.48 million metric tonnes.
