BRUSSELS. Coceral has revised the production estimates for Europe.

Cut backs in production

At 10.92 million mt Coceral continues to estimate total EU sunflower seed production at a similar size to last year. Production in Modova has, however, been cut to 500,000 mt. Contrary to this, the USDA is reckoning with an increase of 14.8% to 900,000 mt in Moldova. In considering Coceral’s total estimates in conjunction with the USDA’s total estimates it can be stated that EU production is currently estimated to climb by 0.6% to 11,32 million mt over last year.

Production in France is on the rise

Although production in France falls short of expectations, it is nevertheless estimated 7.5% higher than last year. Contrary to this, production in Serbia falls short of expectations and is currently estimated at 620,000 mt, around 15.5% below last year.
