Sunflower seeds: prices dip

SOFIA/KYIV. Although the Black Sea ports of Odessa and Mykolaiv are under attack, Ukraine is determined to step up the exports of agricultural products. Hullers in Bulgaria are able to offer lower sunflower seed prices. The EU has drastically reduced imports.

Cheap offers may only be temporary

Sunflower kernel prices have slumped as the attached chart shows. At EUR 1.58-1.65/kg (USD 1.72-1.80/kg) FCA Bulgaria the prices for bakery kernels range much lower than last week. Hullers in Bulgaria report that some shipments are arriving from the western and south-western parts of Ukraine, which are helping to improve the supply and price situation.
