Sunflower seeds: price surge in Moldova

SOFIA/CHIȘINĂU. Traders in Moldova were recently offering cheaper raters than their colleagues in Bulgaria. The tide has, however, changed now. Considerable price fluctuations are still being reported in the run up to Christmas.

Prices exceed EUR 0.70

As market players report, demand for Bulgarian sunflower kernels is still unbroken.  Enquiries for prompt shipments are, however, declining in the run up to Christmas. In addition, the remaining supplies are in the hands of large producers and traders who can afford to maintain high prices. Black in shells with a 96% purity are trading higher at EUR 335-337 per metric tonne CPT Varna. Suppliers in Bulgaria are also reporting high demand for bakery kernels.
