Sunflower seeds: optimistic estimates for 2023

SOFIA/KYIV. Rain delayed harvesting in Ukraine in September and high humidity poses additional risks. According to Ukrainian estimates sunflower seed sowing will range on a similar level as this year in 2023.

Harvesting may be more than 60% complete in Ukraine but rain delayed proceedings for buckwheat, corn and sunflowers seeds, soybeans and sugar beets in September as the Ministry of Agriculture states. Although things are two weeks behind schedule at present, the ministry is confident that favourable weather conditions will enable farmers to harvest everything in time.
