KIEV/MOSCOW. Market players reckon that the slide in sunflower oil prices in the Ukraine indicates a turnaround.

Production rises by 20% in Russia

After climbing to EUR 0.870 per kg in January, the quotations for sunflower oil have now declined to EUR 0.835 per kg at the Hamburg Exchange. Market players are convinced that the declines in the vegetable oil market will add further pressure to the sunflower market. The recently issued FAS oilseeds world market and trade report states that sunflower seed production exceeded 15 million tonnes in Russia and in the Ukraine in 2019. Sunflower seed production has also risen from 9.50 million metric tonnes to 9.75 million metric tonnes
