Sunflower seeds: market activity remains subdued

SOFIA/KYIV. Hot and dry weather in Bulgaria could have a negative impact on yields in the long term. Meanwhile, the closure of the grain corridor does not directly affect exports of sunflower seeds from Ukraine, but this development is still causing some uncertainty in the market.

Heat and drought in Bulgaria

In the next two weeks it is expected to remain hot and dry in Bulgaria. While such phases do not usually affect the development of the sunflower seed crop, it becomes critical if the plants have to develope without rainfall for too long. Lower yields could be the result.
