SOFIA/MOSCOW. Since the beginning of the year, sunflower seed exports from Russia have largely stagnated. The market's hope now lies in the new crop, the sowing of which will begin in a few weeks.

Kazakhstan refrains from export duty

Contrary to previous expectations, the Kazakh government will probably refrain from increasing the export duty on sunflower seeds. Various experts, including business associations and the Kazakh Grain Union, spoke out against this measure after a detailed analysis of the advantages and disadvantages, as "such intervention would have a negative impact on the market and cause a price increase instead of a decrease", the official message of the Kazakh Grain Union said.
