Sunflower seeds: experts do not reckon with price reductions

SOFIA/KIEV. In both Russia and Ukraine, the sunflower seed crops achieved good results this season. Nevertheless, prices remain high, while many buyers had initially expected prices to ease decline after the already expensive 2020/2021 season.

Fewer high-oleic kernels in Ukraine

This could, however, take some time. Russia is in any case not an option for the EU this season due to high export duties, and Ukrainian farmers are still holding back their raw material stocks in the hope that prices will continue to rise. In addition, demand for vegetable oils, and thus production, is expected to increase further in the coming months, according to experts.
