Sunflower seeds: only few exceptions

KYIV/SOFIA. With producers reluctant to sell and production declines being reported the prices for sunflower seeds are on the rise. Only few producing countries are expecting a larger crop this year.

Low production drives up market

Russia, Ukraine and other countries in Eastern Europe that contribute a large share to global production are witnessing sharp declines this year. The USDA estimates global production at 50.553 million mt, which is 10% down on last year. On 30 October, market representatives will discuss the impact this decline will have on sunflower oil during the XXII International Conference of the Fat and Oil Industry 2024 in Kyiv.
