Sunflower seeds: downward revisions to global crop forecasts

SOFIA/KYIV. In the WASDE report published last week, the US Department of Agriculture adjusted its forecasts for global sunflower seed crops. As expected, the estimates for the EU and Ukraine were revised downwards.

Ukraine has completed 30% of the harvest

There has been light rainfall in large parts of Ukraine in recent days, but the harvesting process has nevertheless continued unhindered. Despite the progress of the sunflower seed harvest, local processors do not have enough raw materials. Growers are currently holding back on their sales, with many only offering what they cannot store themselves or when they need money to cover running costs.
