SOFIA. The surge in demand for sunflower seeds has subsided and market activities are slowly returning to more normal levels in Bulgaria.

Attractive offers in Europe

The cut back in production coupled with high demand prompted the processors in Bulgaria to import record volumes from Romania and other countries in the first two months of the season. The run on sunflower seeds has now, however, subsided, which is also reflected in the prices. Rapeseed and palm oil are also trading lower.

Black in-shells with a 96% purity peaked at EUR 371 per metric tonne CPT Varna towards the end of last week and have now declined to EUR 368 per metric tonne CPT. Bakery kernels are trading at EUR 0.70 per kg FC
