Sunflower seeds: further delays in sowing

SOFIA. With temperatures rannging below zero sunflower seed sowing is still delayed in Bulgaria. Shipments to Germany have risen sharply by 74%. Incredible offers are being issued in Ukraine and Romania.

Further delays in sowing

Although sowing was supposed to start more than one week ago, sub-zero temperatures are still causing delays. Trading is largely subdued as prices remain high at EUR 1.00/kg FCA Bulgaria. Black inshells are trading at EUR 0.65/kg CPT Varna and prices are expected to rise. Although the reference prices for the new crop range at EUR 0.90/kg FCA Bulgaria, rumour has it that suppliers in Ukraine and Romania have issued prices of EUR 0.85/kg DDP Germany for the new crop.
