Sunflower seeds: Current EU crop estimates

BRUSSELS. Coceral, the European association for agricultural trade, published the 2018/19 crop estimates for European grains and oilseeds.

According to Coceral, the 2018 EU sunflower seed production is expected to decrease by 9% to 8.77 million mt, as compared to last year. The overall European production is expected to decrease as well, by 7.4% to 9.85 million mt.

Despite sowing delays, Coceral is expecting acreage in Bulgaria to decrease by just 40,000 ha. The association estimates production just short of 1.77 million mt for the country.
