Sunflower seeds: corrected crop estimates for 2024/2025

SOFIA/DALIAN. The International Grains Council has adjusted its crop forecast for global sunflower seed production and the European Commission has also made some corrections in its latest report.

Global crop estimated at 57.4 million mt

The US Department of Agriculture recently estimated global sunflower seed production in 2024/2025 at 55.248 million mt, which corresponds to a slight increase of 1.1% compared to the previous year. Analysts at the International Grains Council (IGC), however, were somewhat more generous in their results for the previous year at 57.1 million mt and reckon that production could rise slightly again this year to 57.4 million mt.
