Sunflower seeds: Continuing rise in prices

SOFIA. Bulgaria is experiencing hot and dry weather. The risk of further hail showers is low but still present, according to market players.

 

The plants on the fields on the eastern Black Sea coast are in good condition. Nonetheless, a smaller crop is expected due to this year's reduced acreage. Current estimates for the Bulgarian sunflower seed production in 2018 are 1.4-1.5 million mt.

Prices levels return to start of the season
The prices for black in shells, 96% purity dropped to a cheaper level of 317 EUR/mt CPT Varna before rising to 321 EUR/mt CPT again.
