SOFIA. Bulgarian sunflower seed traders are looking at the current developments in the bakery market with growing despair. Hardly anyone believes that prices will soon reach a level similar to that of the last few years.

The reasons for higher farmgate prices

Farmgate prices for black sunflower seeds have now climbed to EUR 600/mt FCA Bulgaria. The reasons for these drastic increases are manifold. On the one hand, farmers have realised in the past year that they can definitely demand higher prices, but on the other hand, their production costs have also risen significantly in some cases, according to market players.
