Sunflower seeds: Coceral raises production estimates

SOFIA/KYIV. In its latest report, Coceral raises the production estimates for the EU sunflower seed crop significantly. Meanwhile, prices in the Eastern European market are coming under increasing pressure.

Production increase of 20% expected

A few days ago, the experts from Coceral published their updated production estimates for the EU sunflower seed crop 2023. Already in December, the association had tried its hand at what was then a distant forecast and now even raised expectations by another 6%. Compared to the 2022/2023 season, production has the potential to increase by a whopping 20% to 11.23 million mt this year - last year, drought had reduced yields in many growing countries.
