Sunflower seeds: Coceral issues revised production estimates

The USDA, for isntance, reckons that production is set to rise by 14.8% to 900,000 metric tonnes. Combined estimates states that production is set to rise by 1.4% to 11.39 million metric tonnes in Europe.

18-year low in Slovakia
The cut back in acreage and reduced yields coupled with a lack of rain will have an impact on prodcution in Slovakia. Coceral estimates that prodcution will decline by 26% to 149,000 metric tonnes. The Statistical Office of the Slovak Repubic even reckons that production will fall by as much as 35% to 132,100 metric tonnes. This low figure was last witnessed at the beginning of the century.
