SOFIA. Many interested buyers are eagerly comparing offers and the shippers in Bulgaria are extremely busy.

Shipments of sunflower seeds are, however, not yet being prepared. Bulgaria has so far shipped about 1.2 M mt of oil seeds this season, 58% of which are sunflower seeds.

The pressure is growing

Abundant supplies and the dropping prices for rapeseeds are pressurising the prices for black in shells, which are currently trading for 297 EUR/mt CPT Varna.

Shellers and suppliers of bakery kernels regard the 2016/17 as over and there are only few offers available. Due to the promising production outlook, the prices for bakeries have dropped to a similar level as in Moldova. They are currently trading for 660 EUR/mt DDO Germany.

First shipments to be expected in September

In the South of Bulgaria, the harvest is due to start in ten to fourteen days. In the North, it will start in about three weeks. After a short drying phase (which renders shelling easier) the first shipments can be expected from the middle of September.
