KIEW. While Bulgarian sunflower seed kernel suppliers are having prices increase, traders from Ukraine are going in a different direction.

Records advancing?

The Ukraine is the largest sunflower seed kernel producer worldwide, but often produce from the Ukraine is not really attractive price-wise for foreign buyers because of its export duties. Said buyers then usually prefer Bulgarian and Moldavian sunflower seed kernels.
Since the export duties only pertain to seeds, though, Ukrainian traders transferred their priorities to sunflower seed oil – successfully, at that! The Ukraine exported 15,200 mt of sunflower seed oil in September 2016, more than tripling their export figures compared to the previous month (4,800 mt). Exports made it to just 954 mt in September 2015.

Ukrainian suppliers show us how
In many countries cultivating sunflower seeds, record crops are expected this year and worldwide the production should increase to 43,3 million mt. Lacking demand and a high crop result have the prices for Ukrainian sunflower seed kernels, bakery, dropping currently. At 0.69 EUR/kg DDP Germany, Ukrainian produce is even cheaper than that from Moldova.
