SOFIA. Bulgarian suppliers are facing hard times. They are confronted with stubborn farmers and limited demand.

The raw seed prices have increased since last week. Offers for black sunflower kernels, 96% purity are available for 352.79 EUR/mt.

Although sufficient supplies are available the farmers and traders are using every excuse they can think of to prevent having to reduce their prices, such as domestic demand, currency fluctuations or imminent shipments. And indeed, 19,500 mt are about to be shipped from Burgas.

Stable bakery prices

The prices for bakery kernels, however, remained stable. Offers from Bulgaria and Moldova are currently ranging on a similar price level.

Although demand is low, it is rather difficult for trader to drop their prices since the raw seed prices are comparably high. Some suppliers still have available stocks, but with 655 EUR/mt FCA Bulgaria the prices for prompt deliveries are slightly higher.
