SOFIA. After a slight correction, raw material prices for Bulgarian sunflower kernels have stabilised for the time being. Hulled sunflower seeds, on the other hand, tend to be higher again.

Weather to favour sowing
June should bring warmer and drier weather to the Bulgarian growing regions. This favours the farmers' progress in sowing. Nevertheless, market participants are hoping for occasional precipitation so that the moisture balance of the plants remains stable.

By mid-May, Bulgarian farmers had sown an estimated 720,000 hectares for the 2019/20 sunflower kernel crop. COCERAL forecasts a total area of 780,000 ha for the upcoming crop.
