Sultanas: Wide price range due to uncertainties

MANISA. The unusually cool night temperatures in the Turkey are causing further delays in production and are governing concerns in the export market.

Sultanas are further delayed

With temperatures ranging at  20 C° in Turkey at night the weather is comparatively cool at the moment. This is slowing down the ripening process of the grapes and will cause delays in the drying phase. Market players now reckon that harvesting will only start after Eid al-Adha in Mid-August. Some exporters therefore only offer shipments of the new crop from the second half of September.

Turkey has so far shipped 233,284 metric tonnes of sultanas and raisins this season. The weekly export volume currently ranges below 3,
