Sultanas: UK raises imports by 9%

MANISA. Despite the hike in export prices and the significantly lower production volume, Turkey has so far exported more sultanas than last year around this time.

The market in Turkey has witnessed nominal decreases in farmgate prices this week. Export prices, however, remain stable. Due to USD/EUR exchange rate fluctuation the buyers in Europe can profit from nominal decreases. After the exporters had sell with a smaller profit margin due the stronger Turkish lira, they are now trying to compensate for part of the loss with higher prices than at the beginning of the season.
