Sultanas: Turkey looks to Iran

MANISA. On the Turkish market for dried fruits, rumours circulate that the Iranian sultana production might fall short of expectations. Turkish traders use this information as a chance to drive up their prices.

 

Chance of price increases
For the Iranian sultana production in 2017, figures have floated around over the last few weeks of 180,000–200,000 mt. Current forecasts, however, mention a harvest of 160,000 mt – which would still be an average performance. Turkish traders report an Iranian price level of around 1,600 USD/mt and hope to also raise their FOB prices, to at least 1,450 USD/mt.
