Sultanas: Traders expect record crop

MANISA/SACRAMENTO. There is no oversupply in the Turkish sultana market this season. Nevertheless, individual exporters, especially smaller ones, urgently need to get rid of their remaining stocks.

Record production expected
Some offer for standard type 9 sultanas (2018 crop) range as low as 2,050-2,150 USD/mt FOB Izmir. Expensive loans are vritually forcing many exporters to empty their warehouses. They need the space and the money for the new production, which has record potential. While official production estimates for sultanas and raisins range at 300,000 mt, more optimistic voices are speaking of 320,000-350,000 mt.
