Sultanas: Traders expect corrections

MANISA. Until revised crop estimates are announced and as long as the TMO base price for 2018 has not been published, many Turkish traders are maintaining the current price level.

 

California faces losses
Despite an increase in production in 2018, the high price level for Californian raisins could cost top producers shares in the export market. Hoping for better profits, Turkish farmers still intend to produce more Thompson raisins this year.

At 248,140 mt, the export volume this season has so far been 3.7% higher than last year. Export prices have, however, increased noticeably this season despite the weak Turkish Lira. Sultanas, Grade A, Type 9 are being offered at a similar level as in July 2016.
