MANISA. Taking into account the higher prices in California and South Africa, dried fruit suppliers in Turkey are also looking to make more attractive deals for their dried sultanas.

Farmgate prices rise
Exporters of Turkish sultanas primarily depend on long-term contracts, with only few requests for prompt deliveries. Supplies of raw sultanas are rather low and trade is rather subdued in the market for raw commodities, large traders, who still hold positions, moving them around on paper to artificially create trade activity and drive up prices. With success as it seems since the farmgate prices have now risen to 6.30 TRY/kg. Further increases to 7.00 TRY/kg are expected for next week.
