MANISA. To prevent speculation, Turkish public authorities are reluctant to make early estimates regarding the production. They should be released in July at the earliest.

Despite the frost two weeks ago, market players are still optimistic regarding the 2017 sultana production. As long as there are no surprises in the next three weeks and the weather remains favourable during the course of the season, nothing will stand in the way of a good crop.

Suppliers are luring customers
Exports are going well and the suppliers are fulfilling their contracts. Thus, exports are currently ranging between 5.000-8.000 mt per week. Since the beginning of the season, almost 170,000 mt of Sultanas have been exported.

To carry over as few goods as possible into the new season, traders have further reduced the prices for their sultanas this week. Sultanas from the 2017 crop, in contrast, are currently being offered at a slightly higher price, at 1,300 USD/mt FOB Izmir.
