Sultanas: Risky season

MANISA. Turkey is, economically speaking, in chaos. Exporters are having to take great risks in the new season. In addition, rumours about the crop continue to fuel the mood in the sultana market. In this climate, Eid al-Adha is coming in handy, at least for traders.

 

Farmgate prices to rise

This week, the market is closed due to the holidays. There are no longer any new offers. But this only means a short break. Starting next week, the market situation is expected to change drastically. Market players reckon with rapid price increases. Farmgate prices are expected to rise to 7.50-8.00 TRY/kg. In comparison, last year's price was as low as 4.00 TRY/kg. Price are mainly being driven by the high financing costs.
